Kota, Rajasthan: On the auspicious occasion of Mahashivratri, a tragic incident unfolded during a procession in Kota, Rajasthan. Fourteen children, aged between 10 and 14 years, suffered burn injuries after coming into contact with a live wire. The incident occurred in the Sakatoura area, near the Kunhari police station.

The Electric Shock Incident in Kota

The cause of the electric shock was attributed to contact with a high-tension power line passing overhead. The children were participating in the Mahashivratri procession when the unfortunate incident took place. They were immediately rushed to the MBS Hospital in Kota for urgent medical attention.

Prompt Response and Hospitalization

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajasthan Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar promptly arrived at the hospital to meet the injured children. The medical staff is working diligently to provide necessary care and treatment to the young victims.

“It’s a very sad incident,” said Kota Superintendent of Police Amrita Duhan. “An investigation has been initiated to determine the cause of the accident and identify any negligence.”

Mahashivratri is a major Hindu festival celebrated across India. Large processions are a common feature of the celebrations. This incident highlights the importance of safety precautions during such events, particularly when dealing with overhead power lines.

Safety Measures and Investigation

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine how the high-tension power line came into contact with the procession route. Ensuring the safety of public events and processions remains a priority, and measures will be taken to prevent such accidents in the future.

Our thoughts are with the affected children and their families during this difficult time. May they recover swiftly and find strength in the face of adversity.
