The Arunachal Pradesh government has launched a comprehensive new tourism policy aimed at boosting the state’s appeal to both domestic and international tourists. Spearheaded by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, the policy focuses on film tourism, farming experiences, wine-making, and eco-tourism.
The picturesque northeastern state, known for its sublime natural beauty, diverse tribal cultures, and abundant wildlife, is set to offer unique and immersive experiences to visitors. “Tourism means a lot to us and to our people,” said Chief Minister Khandu. “Thanks to its sublime natural beauty, diverse tribal cultures, and abundant wildlife, our state attracts tourists from across the world, seeking unique and authentic experiences.”
Initiatives of Arunachal Pradesh Tourism
One of the key initiatives under this policy is the “Kiwi Owning and Kiwi Fruit Picking Experience“ in Ziro, Lower Subansiri district. This initiative allows tourists to engage in sustainable farming by participating in an “Annual Timeshare Programme,“ where they can own and pick kiwi fruits, supporting local farmers and fostering a deeper connection with nature.
Additionally, the policy places emphasis on film tourism, inviting filmmakers to explore the state’s scenic beauty for movie shoots, and wine tourism, offering tourists the chance to learn about and participate in local wine-making processes. The state has also introduced a homestay policy to ensure visitors have an authentic and holistic experience, staying with locals and gaining insight into the region’s tribal communities.
Chief Minister Khandu personally invited tourists to visit Dong, the easternmost point of India, to witness the country’s first sunrise and experience the serenity of this peaceful village. “Experience the magic of India’s first sunrise at Dong, #ArunachalPradesh! This peaceful village offers a stunning display of nature as the sun paints the sky in hues of pink and gold,” he said.
Through various initiatives and promoting responsible tourism, the Arunachal government aims to empower local communities and give a push to the local economy. The Chief Minister also complimented the Indian Army for curating a bike ride through the heart of Arunachal’s majestic landscapes and vibrant villages, representing a blend of culture, courage, and camaraderie.
With these diverse offerings, Arunachal Pradesh will become a leading destination for those seeking unique cultural, natural, and adventure-driven experience.
