In a shocking incident, authorities have arrested a 30-year-old man in Delhi’s Shakarpur area for allegedly installing spycam in the bathroom and bedroom of his woman tenant. The accused, identified as Karan, is the son of the landlord and lives on a different floor in the same building.
The victim, a civil service aspirant, discovered the hidden cameras after noticing unusual activity on her WhatsApp account. Upon investigating, she found that her account was logged into an unknown laptop. She searched her apartment, where she discovered a spy camera installed in the bulb holder of her bathroom.
She immediately alerted the police, who conducted a thorough search and found another camera hidden in the bulb holder of her bedroom. During interrogation, Karan admitted to installing the cameras three months ago when the woman had left for her hometown in Uttar Pradesh. He had used the pretext of repairing electrical fixtures to gain access to her apartment and transfer the recorded videos to his laptop.
The police have seized one spycam and two laptops containing the recorded videos. Karan faces charges of voyeurism under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, resulting in a minimum of one year in jail2.
This incident has raised serious concerns about privacy and safety for tenants, especially women living alone. Authorities are urging tenants to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
