In a tragic incident that has shocked the Shakarpur community, a 16-year-old boy was fatally stabbed by his friends on Monday evening after he refused to treat them for his new smartphone. The victim, identified as Sachin, was returning home with a friend after purchasing the phone when they encountered three other boys near a local snack shop.
According to the police, the group of boys demanded a celebratory treat from Sachin, which he declined. This refusal led to a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation. During the scuffle, one of the boys pulled out a knife and stabbed Sachin twice in the back.
Local residents alerted the police after discovering Sachin lying in a pool of blood. The medical team rushed him to LNJP Hospital, but they declared him dead on arrival. The police, with the help of CCTV footage and local intelligence, apprehended the three juveniles involved in the incident. They recovered the murder weapon, a dagger, from them.
The three boys, all aged 16 from Shakarpur, are currently in police custody under the Juvenile Justice Act4. The incident has raised concerns about juvenile delinquency and the influence of peer pressure among teenagers.
Apoorva Gupta, DCP East, stated, “This is a heartbreaking incident. We urge parents and guardians to be vigilant about their children’s activities and friendships. The police will ensure justice for the victim and his family.”
The community is in mourning, and many are calling for increased awareness and preventive measures to address the root causes of such violent behavior among youth.
This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the potential consequences of seemingly trivial disputes and the importance of addressing underlying issues of aggression and peer pressure among teenagers.
