Truecaller for Web: Web Version Launches for Indian Android Users

truecaller

Truecaller, the popular caller identity and spam detection app, has introduced a web version called “Truecaller for the Web” specifically for Android users in India. This move aims to enhance user experience by providing seamless communication across devices.

Key Features of Web Version:

  1. SMS and Chat Mirroring: Similar to the web versions of WhatsApp and Telegram, Truecaller’s web version allows users to mirror their SMS and chat conversations on their desktop. This feature is particularly useful for quickly responding to messages or viewing one-time passwords (OTPs) for logins.
  2. Call Notifications: The web client displays real-time caller ID notifications when users receive calls. This ensures that users stay informed even when their phone is not within arm’s reach.
  3. Number Search Functionality: Truecaller already offers number searching on its website, but the web version for Android users now allows unlimited searches without rate limits. Users can easily find information about unknown numbers directly from their desktop.
  4. QR Code Linking: Android users can link their devices to a PC or Mac using a QR code. Each user can connect only one web client at a time. Additionally, there is a 30-day time-out window for periods of inactivity on Truecaller for the Web.

How to Enable Truecaller for the Web:

  1. Open the Truecaller app on your Android device.
  2. Navigate to the Messages tab.
  3. Tap the three dots at the top right corner.
  4. Choose “Messaging for Web” to enable the web version.
  5. Alternatively, visit web.truecaller.com and follow the on-screen instructions to link your devices.

Truecaller’s late entry into SMS mirroring is an attempt to catch up with other platforms. Microsoft, for instance, provides SMS mirroring for both Android and iPhone users on Windows. However, Truecaller’s focus on AI-powered features, such as call blocking and spam detection, continues to set it apart.

With over 80 million people receiving SMS pop-up notifications daily, Truecaller’s web version aims to streamline communication and improve accessibility for Android users in India. As the company expands its services, it remains committed to enhancing user privacy and convenience.
