Pune Porsche Crash: Police Reveals Father Knew Teenager Was Drunk, Didn’t Have License

In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves through the city, a 17-year-old boy driving a luxury Porsche car collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of two tech professionals. The accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning in Pune’s Kalyani Nagar area.

Key Details of Pune Porsche Accident:

  • The Driver: The teenage driver, whose identity remains undisclosed due to legal reasons, hails from a prominent Pune-based realtor family.
  • Alcohol Consumption: During the police investigation, it was discovered that the boy had visited two restaurants with a group of friends on Saturday night. There, he was served liquor, including vodka, whiskey, and beer, along with food.
  • Father’s Knowledge: Shockingly, the minor driver claimed that his father was aware of his alcohol consumption. Despite this, the father allegedly handed over the keys to the grey Porsche, even though the boy had no driver’s training and lacked a valid driver’s license.
  • Legal Implications: The Pune Police Commissioner, Amitesh Kumar, emphasized the gravity of the incident. Instead of invoking Section 304A (pertaining to cases involving minors), they have charged the boy under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), which deals with culpable homicide. The police also attempted to try him as an adult, but the court rejected this request. An appeal is pending in the Sessions Court.
  • Restaurant Responsibility: Both restaurants where the boy consumed alcohol have been booked for serving liquor to a minor. The Crime Branch is investigating the offenses against the restaurant owners and managers.

Victims:

The accident claimed the lives of Aneesh Awadhiya and Ashwini Koshta, both 24-year-old software engineers from Madhya Pradesh1.

Pub Owners Also Held Responsible:

In addition to the boy’s father, the manager and owners of the pubs where the minor was served alcohol are also facing legal consequences.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the importance of responsible behavior, especially when it comes to underage drinking and driving. The authorities are committed to ensuring justice for the victims and their families. As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of two promising lives.
