Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant visit to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Kerala today. During his visit, he reviewed the progress of India’s ambitious human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan. Here are the highlights of his visit:
Unveiling the Astronauts for the Gaganyaan Mission
PM Modi, accompanied by top officials from the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), revealed the names of the four Indian astronauts selected for the Gaganyaan mission. These test pilots, either wing commanders or group captains, will play a crucial role in India’s first manned space mission. The astronauts include:
- Prashanth Nair
- Angad Prathap
- Ajit Krishnan
- Chauhan
These individuals will undergo rigorous training and preparations for their historic journey into space.
Key Space Infrastructure Projects
As part of his visit, PM Modi inaugurated three vital space infrastructure projects at the VSSC:
- PSLV Integration Facility: Located at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, this state-of-the-art facility will enhance the frequency of PSLV launches, increasing the annual count from six to fifteen. It will also support launches of SSLV and other small vehicles developed by private space companies.
- Semi-Cryogenics Integrated Engine and Stage Test Facility: Situated at the ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri, this facility plays a crucial role in testing and qualifying engines for space missions. It ensures the reliability and safety of propulsion systems.
- Trisonic Wind Tunnel: Developed at the VSSC, this wind tunnel facility aids in aerodynamic research and testing. It contributes to the design and optimization of spacecraft and launch vehicles.
Green Hydrogen Fuel Cell Inland Waterway Vessel
In addition to space-related projects, PM Modi also launched India’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel. This eco-friendly vessel represents a significant step toward sustainable transportation and reducing carbon emissions.
Addressing MSME Entrepreneurs
Later today, PM Modi will address thousands of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) entrepreneurs in the automotive sector during his visit to Madurai, Tamil Nadu. His speech aims to encourage innovation, growth, and collaboration within the MSME sector.
The Gaganyaan mission, with its selected astronauts and cutting-edge infrastructure, marks a momentous leap for India’s space exploration endeavors. As the nation eagerly awaits this historic journey, ISRO’s accomplishments continue to inspire generations of scientists, engineers, and dreamers.
Stay tuned for further updates as India prepares to touch the stars! 🚀🇮🇳
