Authorities in Delhi and Rajasthan have cracked down on a NEET exam impersonation scam, leading to the arrest of several individuals involved in cheating during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical courses. The culprits, including an MBBS student, were caught acting as fake candidates at exam centers in both states.
Delhi Arrests in NEET Exam Cheating Scam:
In New Delhi, three people were apprehended for their involvement in the cheating scheme. The arrested individuals have been identified as follows:
- Abhishek (24) from Jodhpur, Rajasthan
- Gajraj Singh (21) from Dausa, Rajasthan
- Rakesh (21) from Barmer, Rajasthan
These individuals were caught attempting to appear as fake candidates during the NEET exams at centers located in South Delhi schools. The specific exam centers where they were apprehended include Mount Columbus School in Dakshin Puri and Sarvodaya Co-ed Government School in Begumpur.
NEET Exam Cheating in Rajasthan:
Simultaneously, in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, a more elaborate cheating scheme was uncovered. An MBBS student named Abhishek Gupta was caught impersonating a NEET aspirant at the Master Adityendra School examination center. Gupta was part of a racket involving his college mate, Ravikant alias Ravi Meena, and the aspirant’s brother, Rahul Gurjar. The deal struck for this impersonation was Rs 10 lakh, with Rs 1 lakh paid in advance. Both Gupta and Meena, along with the actual candidate, Suraj Gurjar, and Rahul Gurjar, have been arrested. Two other accomplices, identified as Amit alias Bunty and Dayaram, are currently under detention and expected to be arrested soon.
Prior Offences:
Superintendent of Police in Bharatpur, Mridul Kachawa, highlighted that this was not the first offence for some of those involved. A prior cheating case had been registered against Ravikant at Ajmer’s Kotwali police station. Following his arrest, Gupta was produced before a court, which ordered a three-day police remand.
Impersonation and Fraud in Competitive Exams:
These arrests shed light on the persistent issue of impersonation and fraud in competitive examinations. Authorities are now taking measures to tighten security at exam centers across the country to prevent such incidents in the future.
