National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has called for a united front among BRICS nations to combat terrorism and address modern security challenges, including digital threats. Speaking at the BRICS National Security Advisors’ (NSAs) meeting in St. Petersburg, Doval emphasized the need for collaborative efforts to tackle these pressing issues.
Ajit Doval highlighted the importance of reforming multilateral structures, arguing that existing frameworks are inadequate for addressing contemporary threats. “The wide participation in the meeting today testifies to the fact that there is an urgent need to reform multilateralism if we are to restore credibility,” he stated.
During the three-day conclave, which precedes the annual BRICS summit scheduled for October 22-24 in Kazan, Russia, the NSAs reviewed global security concerns, including the rise of cyber threats and terrorism. Doval stressed that collective efforts within the BRICS framework are essential to ensure global stability.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Ajit Doval had a brief interaction with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two officials are expected to hold a formal bilateral meeting to discuss India-China relations, including the situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. Doval seeks early completion of the disengagement process and the restoration of peace and tranquility along the border areas14.
