The South Central Railway (SCR) has announced the cancellation of 156 trains and the diversion of 84 others due to heavy rains that have caused significant disruptions in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The incessant downpour has led to waterlogging and damage to railway tracks in several sections, including Kesamudram-Intekanne and Tadla Pusapalli-Mahabubabad.
Impact on Passengers
The South Central Railway has fully cancelled 80 trains and partially cancelled six more. To manage the situation, the railway authorities have diverted 84 trains through alternative routes. Passengers stranded due to these disruptions are being provided with food and assistance at various stations. The SCR has also set up additional enquiry counters and help desks to assist passengers.
Efforts and Assistance from South Central Railway
General Manager Arun Kumar Jain is actively coordinating with divisional managers and state governments to assess and address the situation. The South Central Railway has mobilized its entire machinery for repair and rehabilitation works. Local voluntary organizations have also been roped in to provide support.
Specific Train Disruptions
Among the affected trains, the Sangamithra Express (Train No. 12295 and 12296) bound for Danapur and Bengaluru, respectively, was halted at Kesamudram station. Passengers of the Charminar Express (Train No. 12760) bound for Chennai were transported from Kondapalli to Vijayawada via RTC buses, with further arrangements being made to take them to Chennai.
